The Village – Community archetypes

Context
The Village is a book written by Alessandro Rinaldi and Nicola Gaiarin, published by Ayros Editore. A text that recounts a collaborative methodology experimented in recent years in communities and teams of all types and sizes, which allows talents to be developed within organizations.

Process
The one edited by Ayros is a re-edition of the original book, which needed some updates, but above all a new graphic design. In The Village there are a series of characters, the archetypes of the village, which are used as a tool for personal and organizational evolution. Above all, they needed a restyling, new illustrations that best represented the key values of each figure, recalling their main talents and characteristics.

Solution
We have created a series of illustrations that are broad at the same time, to allow for the freest possible interpretation, but also full of character, to make each figure instantly recognizable. We opted for a Japanese-influenced drawing style, reworked in a Western way with a limited color palette, highlighting that all the figures belong to the same village, which is recalled in its architecture inside the drawings themselves. The text of the book has been designed according to the publishing house guidelines, but playing with graphic elements taken from the illustrations that recall the figure mentioned in each specific chapter.
