Illustrating parenting and childhood

Context
Uppa is a publishing house specializing in topics related to parenting and childhood. This bimonthly magazine is written by pediatricians, educators, psychologists and other specialists who work with children. It is distributed in the clinics of the National Health System, as well as in many counseling clinics, libraries and other maternity and child care facilities. The book catalog includes illustrated manuals, essays and books dedicated to children.

Process
Uppa contacted us to create a series of illustrations dedicated to two columns: “To do, together” and “Data in hand”. The first includes three coordinated small-format illustrations to be inserted within the layout of the magazine. In the second case it was necessary to develop an infographic that visually narrated the data of the article.

Solution
We created a series of coordinated illustrations for six issues of the magazine. Each issue was edited by a different illustrator, in order to propose ever-changing visual imageries designed to always bring a new approach. The fil rouge of this illustrative apparatus remains the magazine’s guidelines and its color palette.
