Context
The 2021/2 UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report, entitled Who Chooses? Who Loses?, warns of growing inequality and exclusion due to high costs of private education and weak regulation by states. It advocates five measures to ensure the provision of quality education for all. We’ve been working with the GEM Report team for a few years, providing them with a series of collaterals for the launch of their annual report.

Process
After a first meeting to outline the objectives of the report, we drafted, together with UNESCO, the key elements to be included in the storytelling. We then developed a visual identity to be used across multiple media: this year we built a colorful imagery, with geometric shapes and abstract characters.

Solution
An illustration on factors shaping parental choice decisions and a different one on the multiple types of non-state schools, two PowerPoint presentations to support the launch event, 20 animated infographics to visually represent key data, and a video animation to quickly introduce the topic. The soundtrack has been composed by Mushroom Sound.
